Cookie Policy

What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files stored by a website in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags and device identifiers. They can remember choices, help a site operate and, where permitted, support measurement or advertising.

Strictly necessary technologies

These support requested site functions, security and privacy controls. Beyond the Craft uses local storage under the key btc_consent_v1 to remember whether you accepted or rejected optional analytics and advertising technologies. This choice is treated as necessary to honour your instruction and expires after 180 days.

The key btc_newsletter_prompt_v1 remembers that the mailing-list invitation was dismissed or used, so it is not shown repeatedly. A dismissal is remembered for 30 days and a request for 365 days. The email address itself is not stored in local storage.

Preference technologies

Preference technologies remember settings that improve how the Site behaves. At present, the Site does not intentionally set separate non-essential preference cookies. If this changes, this policy and the consent controls will be updated.

Analytics cookies

The Site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate visits, pages viewed and engagement. Analytics is configured but remains off unless you consent through the privacy controls.

Google Analytics may use cookies such as _ga and related identifiers when analytics storage is permitted. Google processes Analytics information under its own terms and privacy documentation. Read Google's Privacy Policy.

Advertising cookies

The Site may use Google AdSense, although AdSense is not currently enabled. If enabled with the required controls, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers and similar technologies to deliver, limit, measure and improve personalised or non-personalised advertisements.

Advertising technologies may process IP address, browser and device information, approximate location, pages visited, referring pages, ad interactions and identifiers. Further information is available in Google's advertising technology information and Google's Privacy Policy.

Consent

Where consent is required, optional analytics and advertising technologies remain off until you choose to accept them. You can allow either category independently through Manage. Rejecting optional technologies does not prevent access to the Site's educational content. Accept and Reject are offered with equal prominence.

A Google-certified consent management platform must also be configured before AdSense is enabled for relevant UK, EEA and Swiss visitors.

Change or withdraw your choice

Use to reopen the controls. Saving a new choice replaces the earlier one. Withdrawing consent prevents future optional loading; refreshing the page may be required to remove technology already loaded during the current visit.

Browser controls

Most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies and site data. Blocking all storage may stop privacy preferences or other requested features from working correctly. Consult your browser's help pages for device-specific instructions.
